The Memphis Redbirds rallied for two runs in the ninth to beat Nashville 2-1 Monday night in Memphis.

Hector Gomez gave the Sounds a 1-0 lead in the sixth inning on an RBI single that brought home Elian Herrera.

Sounds right hander Jimmy Nelson protected that lead with seven scoreless innings on the mound. The PCL All-Star struck out four and lowered his league leading ERA to 1.46.

Donovan Hand came on in the eighth and could not protect the lead. The Redbirds tied the game in the ninth on an RBI single by Jermaine Curtis. Curtis later scored the winning run on another single by Luis Mateo. It was Hand’s 4th blown save of the season.

The Sounds fall to 48-44 with the loss.
