A mother and son were injured Friday evening after a stairwell at an apartment complex collapsed.
The incident took place at 6:15 p.m. at the Pointe Breeze Apartments on 488 Lemont Drive.
Officials said a man, his girlfriend and her teenage son were taking a mattress up a stairwell when it gave way.
The woman and her son were trapped and had to be rescued. They were taken to a nearby hospital with bumps and bruises and are expected to be ok.
The Nashville Fire Department used a ladder to rescue other tenants who were trapped on a balcony.
No one was seriously hurt.
