A couple who met online got engaged recently outside Facebook’s headquarters, the popular social media site that brought the pair together.
Steve Kawalit told ABC News he “poked” his now fiance when she appeared on his Facebook timeline in 2007.
After chatting online for several weeks, Kawalit and Nafis Joon decided to meet in person.
“It was funny how I jumped on the social network to catch up with long-lost friends and ended up meeting the love of my life,” Kawalit told ABC News.
Kawalit proposed to his long-time girlfriend last week while the pair was on a private tour of the Facebook’s headquarters located in Menlo Park, California.
After accepting Kawalit’s proposal, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerburg and chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg personally congratulated the couple.
“She was grinning ear to ear, staring at her ring and calling her friends and family. I knew I had done good,” Kawalit said.
The couple has not yet set a wedding date.
