The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrested and charged a Cannon County woman with murder early Thursday morning.
Special agents began investigating the death of Valerie McFadden on June 23 when a passerby discovered the body of the woman along a rural Millersville road.
During the investigation, information developed which led to the arrest of McFadden’s 40-year-old daughter April Stowe.
Police said they believe the crime occurred at a residence the two women shared in the 200 block of Paschal Road in Readyville.
Authorities believe that Stowe disposed of her mother’s body on Woody Lane in Millersville more than an hour away.
Stowe was charged with first degree murder and was booked into the Cannon County jail on a $1 million bond.
McFadden was 61 years old. Police have not released circumstances leading up to her death or how she died.
