NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – An arrest warrant has been issued for a Nashville man accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend Wednesday.
Metro police reported the victim was attempting to get her car from 36-year-old Maurice Coleman in the 1600 block of Cheatham Place around 2:30 when the incident occurred.
The woman got into the front seat of her Honda Accord when Coleman allegedly forced her out and back into the passenger’s seat.
Coleman is accused of driving the victim to the intersection of 7th Avenue North and Monroe Street where he stopped the car, pulled the victim out and threw her to the ground.
Authorities said the convicted felon then repeatedly struck his ex-girlfriend in the face before fleeing on foot.
The woman was transported to St. Thomas Midtown Hospital for treatment.
Police said Coleman remains at large and is wanted on charges of aggravated kidnapping and assault. Anyone who knows his whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-74-CRIME.
He has previous convictions for attempted first degree murder, aggravated robbery, kidnapping, and cocaine possession.
