A man was arrested in Nashville for allegedly abusing an impaired adult he cared for.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation began investigating Willie Miles, Jr. in April after a man with severe developmental disabilities was admitted to Southern Hills Medical Center for breathing difficulties.

Miles, an employee of New Horizons, was assigned to work as the man’s companion.

While at the hospital, staff viewing in-room monitors observed Miles pull the patient’s legs and slap him across the face multiple times.

Hospital security was called and Miles was escorted from the property.

He left without incident and has not had further contact with the victim. Miles was subsequently fired from New Horizons.

Miles, 31, was indicted earlier this month on one count of abuse of an impaired adult.

He was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Metro jail. He has since been released on $7,500 bond.
