Neither library in Coffee County is in danger of being closed anymore after a meeting to discuss the matter was held Tuesday night.
Robin Dunn, a library supporter, said she met with Coffee County Commission and presented her online petition to keep the libraries open.
Dunn’s petition has since garnered nearly 3,000 signatures.
While the decision has been made to keep the libraries open, commissioners are reportedly considering reducing their funding.
The two libraries currently have a $1 million budget, which some city leaders say is high compared to libraries in neighboring counties.
A final decision regarding the budget cut, however, has yet to be reached.
