Former Good Morning America Host Joan Lunden announced Tuesday morning she is battling breast cancer.
Lunden told Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts, her treatment for the aggressive form of cancer will include surgery, chemotherapy and surgery. She is expected to make a full recovery.
“That’s really the bottom line,” Lunden told Good Morning America. “That you can’t be afraid of what you might hear because that’s what can really cause you real problems.”
Lunden co-anchored Good Morning America from 1980 to 1997. Following her departure from the show, the 63-year-old went on to become a health and wellness advocate.
She is also the mother to seven children, including two sets of twins, ages nine and 11.
Present GMA personalities Robin Roberts and Amy Robach have also undergone treatment for breast cancer.
