The community is rallying behind a woman who is battling round two of cancer. Music, donations and compassion filled the room at TNT’s Billiards Bar and Grill for Andrea Santee Saturday night.

In 2012, Santee had battled breast cancer and she along with her doctors thought she had won the fight. Santee had a bilateral mastectomy, went through two rounds of chemotherapy and moved from Nashville to Houston to be with family for a change, but not the type of change that soon came.

“It came back with a vengeance through her entire body,” event organizer Greg Margotta told News 2.

Nearly a year later, Santee discovered that the cancer had come back in an aggressive fashion. Now she is battling round two, and even though it is stage four cancer, her attitude remains positive.

“I don’t get down. I don’t, because there’s no room for that in healing. So I just go straight for let’s try to win this,” Santee explained to News 2.

Margotta organized a two-part benefit, a combination of an online campaign followed by the benefit and concert to help Santee with her medical bills.

“As sick and frail as she is, she was determined to get up here and thank everybody.”

Santee took a three day break from the treatment to come to Nashville and thank friends, family and strangers for the outpouring of support. She said events like this help in her healing process.

“I’ve never seen such an amazing gathering and overwhelming support of help and care and it overwhelms me. I don’t cry and that makes me cry.”
