A driver responsible for a fatal crash on Interstate 24 in Smyrna last weekend has been booked into the Rutherford County jail.

Blake Rutledge, 31, of Rockvale, is charged with vehicle homicide and driving on a revoked license, among other charges.

He was arrested Wednesday after he was released from Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Rutledge flipped his Chevy Tahoe SUV during the early morning hours Sunday near the Almaville Road exit.

His passenger, Kathleen “Katie” Davenport, 26, of Murfreesboro, was ejected from the vehicle and died on the scene.

Investigators believe drugs and/or alcohol played a role in the wreck.

Davenport leaves behind two young boys.

Her funeral will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home on South Church Street in Murfreesboro.
