The Vanderbilt Commodores are 2-0 at the College World Series after beating UC Irvine 6-4 Monday in Omaha, Nebraska.
The Commodores jumped on the Anteaters with two runs in the first inning on three hits. Zander Wiel brought home the first run of the game with an RBI single.
Vanderbilt ace Tyler Beede could not hold the lead though. The 14th pick of the Major League Baseball Draft did not make it through the fourth inning and left with the Commodores trailing 4-2.
A big 3-run fifth inning gave the Commodores the lead for good though as Walker Buehler was sensational out of the bullpen. Buehler got the win striking out 7 in 5.1 innings and did not give up a single hit.
The Dores play the winner of Texas/UC Irvine Friday at 2 p.m.
