Preds get new goalie coach

The Nashville Predators named Ben Vanderklok as the team’s goaltending coach.

Vanderklok has worked as the assistant for the position for the past five seasons.

The Ontario native has had success coaching most all of the goalies within the Preds organization including Pekka Rinne, Carter Hutton, Anders Lindback, Chris Mason and Dan Ellis.

He also worked with goalies on the American Hockey League’s Milwaukee Admirals, ECHL’s Cincinnati Cyclones and the Ontario Hockey League’s Niagra IceDogs.

He helped lead the Ice Dogs to the playoffs six consecutive seasons.

He also worked to improve the game of several goalies including Ontario native, Mark Visentin, who earned silver and bronze medals with Team Canada at the World Junior Championship and became the 2011 OHL Goaltender of the Year.

Predators President of Hockey Operations and General Manager David Poile thanked Mitch Korn for his service.

He went on to say the transition for Vanderklok from assistant coach to head goaltending coach is the right move.
