The Vanderbilt Commodores made the second trip in school history to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska Wednesday afternoon.

The Dores boarded two buses for the airport after being met by fans in the parking lot behind Hawkins Field.

Fans cheered them on and asked for autographs as players and coaches were loading the buses.

Even though Vanderbilt made the College World Series, simply making it to Omaha is not good enough.

Their ultimate goal is to win a national championship.

Sophomore Rhett Wiseman summed it up by saying “It’s really nice going to Omaha, of course, but we kind of look at Omaha as the goal. The goal was to get there and now that we’re there it’s to win the whole thing. It’s one step at a time, that’s how we look at everything, and you know now we’re going to Omaha and now we’re looking to win a national championship.”

The Commodores play their opening game against Louisville Saturday at 7 p.m.
