A luxury home in a gated community in central Texas is on the verge of falling 75 feet into a lake.
The home, which is 4,000 square feet and worth $700,000, sits on a cliff above Lake Whitney.
A sign in the front yard reads, “EXTREME DANGER, STAY OFF PREMISES.”
According to WFAA, the Hill County Sheriff’s Department noticed a crack in the cliff near the home a year ago.
The home owners have since moved out and the house was condemned.
Officials say there is nothing they can do to keep the home from sliding into the lake.
“Just sit and wait. There’s nothing we can do. It’s nature taking its course and there’s no way to stop what has started,” Chief Deputy with the Hill County Sheriff’s Office Mark Wilson said.
The crack in the cliff continued to widen over time, causing part of the home to fall into the lake Tuesday.
Officials believe the entire home could eventually fall into the water.
They are keeping a close eye on the situation and there is no threat to the public at this time.
