Former Tennessee forward Jarnell Stokes grew up watching the Memphis Grizzlies, and Monday he worked out for his hometown team.
Stokes participated in an 80 minute pre-draft workout at the Grizzlies facility. Back in April, he made the decision to enter the 2014 draft and made it very clear that he would love to stay in Memphis.
One of the biggest concerns teams had about Stokes was that his frame was too small and he would not measure up with the NBA competition; however, after the combine in Chicago, Stokes was pleased to show off his six foot, eight inches height, 263 pounds and 8.2 percent body fat.
Last season at Tennessee, Stokes earned first-team all-SEC honors and tied the Vols single season double-doubles record.
As a Memphis native, Stokes was also a former Grizzlies season ticket holder, and could now potentially be on the team’s roster after the June 26 draft.
The Grizzlies have the 22nd pick in the draft this year, which is a good sign for Stokes, who is projected to be a late first round pick.
