A pilot was badly burned after his plane crashed Sunday afternoon in Cheatham County.
The crash happened near Aresti Drive near Chapmansboro, Tenn. just before 3:30 p.m.
Officials told News 2 the pilot is expected to be okay, but suffered burns on 40% of his body.
He was airlifted to nearby a hospital for treatment. His identity has yet to be released.
A man named Ray Williams, who knows the pilot personally, said he and two neighbors helped pull the pilot to safety.
“He had a parachute on. We laid him out on the ground on his parachute. We could see he was burned bad so we went and got a blanket and held it over him to shade him,” he explained.
Williams told News 2 he also heard the plane’s engine cut out prior to the crash.
The cause of the crash hasn’t been released. Further details were not immediately released.
