Montgomery County authorities are investigating after a cemetery was vandalized last week.
The headstones, some of which were overturned, damaged and destroyed, were found when a man went to place American flags on gravestones at the McGee Cemetery for Memorial Day.
Some of the damaged headstones are believed to be over 100 years old.
“Seeing it like that was appalling. It was a clear sign of disrespect,” investigator Bishop Delaney said. “I hope the public will be able to help to find who is in charged, so the repairs and replacements may begin.”
Anyone with information on the crime is urged to call police at 931-237-2429, Ext. 13409.
