After going 10-0 on the mound Tullahoma star Justus Sheffield is the 2014 Gatorade National Player of the Year.

Sheffield struck out an amazing 131 batters in just over 61 innings and had an earned run average of only 0.34.  He was also potent at the plate hitting .405 with three home runs.

Sheffield was surprised at school this morning when he was presented the award by former big leaguer Trox Nixon.

Sheffield is scheduled to reunite with his older brother Jordan next year at Vanderbilt.

He is already committed to the Commodores, but the Major League Baseball Draft is Thursday and his draft position could leave him with a difficult decision.
