An infant’s death is under investigation after she died while her mother was breastfeeding her.
The baby was born Friday at 2:30 a.m. in a Michigan home with the assistance of a midwife.
USA Today reported the mother fell asleep while nursing the baby three hours later.
When she woke up, her infant was not breathing.
The parents called 911 and the baby was rushed to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
An autopsy was performed Saturday and results are pending. The body has since been released back to the family while the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office investigates.
