Rinne wins silver, MVP honors in World Championships

Nashville Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne led Finland to a silver medal in the IIHF World Championships on Sunday.

Rinne stopped 34 shots from Russia but allowed five goals in Finland’s 5-2 loss.

Despite the loss, Rinne was named tournament MVP. Rinne finished the tournament with three shut-outs and a 92.83% save percentage. He led all tournament goaltenders with 220 saves.

Rinne was name also named to the tournament All-Star Team along with Nashville teammate Seth Jones. Jones, a member of Team USA, was named the tournament’s Best Defenseman.
