A California millionaire is hiding envelopes stuffed with cash in several locations across the Bay area and San Francisco.
The anonymous man, who is between the ages of 35 and 45, told ABC News he is a successful real estate investor and he wanted to give back to others.
“People complain that the price of real estate here is pretty high and I have benefited from that,” he told ABC News. “I wanted to do something fun for the city of San Francisco, something that would get people excited.”
The successful investor posts clues on his Twitter account, Hidden Cash, about where he is going to drop the cash.
He added that he plans to expand the cash drops to New York and Los Angeles in the near future.
Since Thursday night, the man has given away nearly $4,000.
“I’m giving right now about $1,000 a day,” he said. “For me, that’s definitely manageable. I know that for most people it’s more than they earn, but I’m in the top one percent. I can keep doing this.”
The mystery man added he hopes his money drops will “encourage more random acts of kindness.”
