Man charged in south Nashville attempted robbery

A 20-year-old was arrested Wednesday in connection to an attempted robbery and shooting that happened Monday.

Corey Butler and an unnamed accomplice are accused of approaching two people in the driveway of a home in the 5100 block of Ashley Drive and aiming a gun at the driver.

The suspects reportedly stated, “Give it up.” and threatened to shoot if the victim drove off.

The victim attempted to flee and Butler reportedly fired one time, striking the victim in the left forearm. Butler and his accomplice then fled on foot.

The victim and their friend drove to South Hills Medical Center for treatment.

Butler is charged with one count of attempted especially aggravated robbery. He was booked into the Metro jail on $250,000 bond.
