Rutherford County sheriff’s detectives are investigating after a man was shot Wednesday night.
Officials said 55-year-old Timothy Fathera called the sheriff’s office around 7:40 p.m. and said that he shot Robert Waddell, 51.
Fathera told police he fired his gun after Waddell came to his home in the 9800 block of Rocky Hill Road and started hitting him repeatedly.
Waddell drove away from the home and went to a house on Holly Grove Road, where a relative called for an ambulance.
He was treated at Vanderbilt University Medical Center for a gunshot wound to his shoulder and was later released.
Once the investigation into the shooting is complete, authorities will present their findings to the district attorney to determine if charges will be filed.
