According to an annual survey by Travel and Leisure magazine, voters ranked Nashville’s barbecue as the best out of 35 cities across the country.
The magazine notes that since only 35 cities were included, some key barbecue hot spots were left out, like St. Louis and Lockhart, Texas.
Nashville, however, was noted for having a collection of different barbecue styles.
From the “whole-hog approach of rural Tennessee” to “the mayo-and-vinegar white sauces typical of Alabama,” the city seems to have it all.
A few restaurants got specific shout outs for their pork offerings.
Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint is easily a favorite around town with locations in Nashville, Mt. Juliet and Nolensville.
Memphis came in second on the list, and Kansas City, Missouri a close third.
