Middle Tennessee opened the Conference USA Tournament with a 3-2 win over Old Dominion Wednesday morning in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

The Blue Raiders took a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning on a two run double by Dustin Delgado.

Delgado had two hits before leaving the game with an injury. His replacement, Jake Ellison, came up big in the fourth with an RBI single to push the Raiders lead to 3-0.

The Monarchs made it a 3-2 game in the 5th inning, but Ellison came up big again with a diving catch preventing the game-tying run to score.

In the top of the 9th Raiders relievers Kooper Kessler and Matt Blackmon escaped a bases loaded to end the game.

Middle Tennessee advances to take on Rice Thursday at 4 p.m.
