“This weekend our beloved dog, Miss Beazley, was put to rest after a battle with lymphoma. She was a source of joy during our time in Washington and in Dallas,” Bush stated on his Facebook page.
Miss Beazley was a birthday gift that the former president gave to his wife in 2004.
It moved into the White House as a 10-week old puppy in 2005, right after Bush was re-elected for a second term.
The dog became a popular companion with the family’s other Scottish terrier, Barney.
He died in February 2013.
