A cat that was found with gunshot wounds has been released from the hospital and is now with a foster family.

The Nashville Cat Rescue said Timmy was given to the family Saturday.

He will remain with them while he recovers, and then he will be put up for adoption.

A Good Samaritan contacted the Nashville Cat Rescue after finding Timmy near the Tennessee State Fairgrounds with gunshot wounds to both of  his front legs.

Veterinarians at Blue Pearl in Brentwood performed a two-hour surgery Tuesday. One of Timmy’s legs had to be amputated, and the other needed metal plating.

Doctors say he is lucky to be alive.
