A Metro police officer killed in the line of duty last weekend was laid to rest Thursday in his hometown of Memphis.
Officer Michael Petrina, 25, was struck by a motorhome driver and killed on Interstate 65 in Brentwood Saturday morning.
He was assisting a Tennessee Department of Transportation worker with an accident at the time. He died at the scene.

Petrina was a 2013 graduate of the Metro Nashville Police Department Academy and lieutenant in the Tennessee Army National Guard.
His funeral was held Thursday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Germantown, just outside Memphis.
Wednesday night in Memphis there was a “sea of blue” to pay tribute to Petrina.
Law enforcement officials turned on their lights and joined a procession to the funeral home for his visitation.
Several police departments took part, including officers from Shelby County.
