A Madison family’s black Labrador retriever mix was found shot to death Thursday morning.
Mayra Encalada told News 2 her father discovered the dog on the front porch of their home in the 600 block of Neelys Bend Road just after 6 a.m.
Encalada said the 9-year-old dog had been shot between the eyes.
The father notified the rest of his family and called police, who responded to the home and filed a report.
Encalada said the family did not hear any gunshots overnight.
“The police [have come to the] conclusion that the dog was killed outside the property and then brought back to where his spot is at in front of the doorway where he sleeps,” said Encalada.
The family told News 2 their dog, Scooby, has never been a problem and is a very good dog.
“We won’t be about to find another dog like he was,” Encalada said.
The family is not only concerned about what happened but concerned for their safety.
Encalada said, “We have kids here and we don’t want anything to happen to our kids [either].”
