A mother was arrested in Clarksville Monday for driving impaired with her 17-month-old daughter in the car.

Amber Caudle, 22, was charged with DUI, reckless endangerment, violation of implied consent law and resisting arrest, according to Investigators.

Multiple witnesses reported seeing her driving erratically from Stewart County to Montgomery County on Indian Mound Road around 9:41 a.m.

One of the witnesses, Shane Knight, started following Caudle after he reportedly saw her vandalize a mobile home in Stewart County. He said at one point she ran off the road into a ditch and almost hit several mailboxes.

“She should have never been behind the wheel, putting a baby’s life in danger like that, no,” said Knight. “She ran into a ditch and went partially airborne with the toddler in the vehicle,” he continued.

The man followed Caudle until she reached Oakwood Food Market in Woodlawn and called police. When authorities caught up to Caudle she was slurring her words and refused a sobriety test.

Once in custody, authorities said she tried to climb out of the backseat of the police car and escape out of the window.

Caudle was booked in the Montgomery County Jail on $105,000 bond.

“I hope I never see anything like this again and I hope this baby never goes through anything like this again,” said Knight.

Caudle’s daughter is in the custody of family members while the Department of Children Services investigates.
