Murfreesboro police arrested a California man Sunday for DUI after they say he was driving under the influence with his 10-year-old son in the car.
Officers initially pulled over Bryan Ellington after observing him run a red light on Northfield Boulevard at Lascassas Pike around 2 a.m.
Upon approaching Ellington, the arresting officer noticed a smell of alcohol coming from the 29-year-old’s vehicle.
Ellington also had bloodshot eyes and was unsteady on his feet. Police said he admitted to consuming alcohol prior to getting behind the wheel of his vehicle.
He was taken into police custody after he performed poorly on a sobriety test.
Ellington is charged with his DUI and faces his eleventh charge of driving on a suspended license.
The child has been placed in his mother’s custody.
