Police spent hours searching for a wrecked vehicle off Interstate 40 in Hermitage after a woman walked into a hospital early Monday morning and said she had wrecked.
The search began after the woman arrived at TriStar Summit Medical Center around 3:30 a.m. saying she crashed on I-40.
Officers searched for over two hours and finally noticed tire tracks in the grass off the roadway near the Stewarts Ferry Pike exit. They then located a wrecked Dodge Durango SUV.

The vehicle was so far back in the tree line that it wasn’t visible from the roadway.
A special machine was called to the scene to pull the SUV out of the trees and flip it over the interstate’s guardrail.
The woman initially told officers a second victim, a man, was with her at the time of the crash. She stated he was conscious and alert when she arrived to the hospital, but no other victim was located at the scene.
Further details have yet to be released.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
