A mother and daughter surprised with a $500 gift gave it away to a Williamson County center.

It was part of News 2’s 60 minute miracle. The concept was simple. A stranger is given $500 in cash.

The recipient of the money then had one hour to give it to a person or cause in need.

Kelly Bourque was having a mother-daughter date with her daughter Ella in downtown Franklin when she was randomly chosen.

It did not take much time for her to decide to give the money to the Refuge Center for Counseling.

They serve both adults and children dealing with a wide range of issues stemming from divorce, trauma and behavioral problems.

“We serve the undeserved in Williamson county. You would think that Williamson County, being the richest county in Tennessee, that everybody could afford a therapist at $90. We can’t,” Shari McClaren, one of the center’s directors explained.

McClaren along with Lauren Capozzi were surprised by the generous gift to the Refuge Center.

“The fact that she just came in and handed [us] all this, I mean I don’t think I have had $500 in my hand ever. I just think it’s great. God is good and it’s great to be a part of that,” Capozzi said.
