The skyline of Nashville continues to change with the latest announcement that a Westin Hotel will be built downtown.
It will sit right across from the Music City Center on the other side of 8th Avenue near the traffic circle.
Big conventions need big hotel space, and the addition will help in that area.
“While everything is at record levels, we are losing 50% more business on the group side than we were a year ago,” Butch Spyridon, President of the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp.
The new Westin will have 430 rooms, more than 25,000 square feet of meeting space, a signature restaurant and even a rooftop pool and lounge.
“We’ve had a lot of announcements lately, but we haven’t moved into, maybe, fruition. So I think this sends a really strong signal,” Spyridon added.
He said the addition of the Westin Hotel enhances our overall package and helps fill a void.
Groundbreaking is expected to take place this summer with an opening date of early 2017.
