A man was seriously injured late Monday night after being struck by a car in south Nashville.
The accident happened in the eastbound lanes of Old Hickory Boulevard near the intersection of Nolensville Road just after 11 p.m.
Police stated the victim seemed to suddenly appear in the roadway and the driver was unable to react quickly enough to avoid a collision.
The victim, a 40-year-old man, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. An update on his condition was not immediately known.
According to officers, the victim was at least 200 yards from the nearest crosswalk. They stated evidence also indicates he was intoxicated.
The driver, however, showed no signs of impairment.
