A Clarksville man was arrested Sunday for a motorcycle accident that left his wife injured a day earlier.

Christopher Bumpus, 37, is charged with vehicular assault and DUI, among other charges.

According to The Leaf Chronicle, Bumpus was traveling on Highway 13 near Montgomery Central High School around 9 p.m. Saturday when he said a deer ran in front of the motorcycle, causing him to run off the road.

His wife suffered injuries to her leg, neck, hip and both arms. She was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in stable condition and was scheduled to be released.

Bumpus, who was also injured, reportedly had a bottle of vodka that was three-fourths empty in the bike’s saddlebags, according to a state trooper.

He was booked into the Montgomery County jail on $30,000 bond.
