A Williamson County community is on edge after a teen reported a man attempted to abduct her.
Deputies said the teen girl was walking home from a friend’s house on Stonebridge Park Drive in the Stonebridge Park Subdivision in Franklin around 7 p.m. Wednesday when she noticed a gold colored pickup truck.
According to authorities, the truck was stopped and its driver got out.
The teen told investigators she felt the man, who did not say a word, was following her. The encounter scared the teen so much she took off running.
“You see kids all the time going up and down the sidewalks here so it’s definitely scary,” said neighbor Kevin Heath.
Residents of the subdivision told News 2 they received emails from the homeowner’s association alerting them of the alleged abduction attempt. Since then, deputies have routinely been patrolling the area.
“It’s shocking. I’ve been here for 13 years, it’s just very hard to believe that this is happening in our neighborhood,” said neighbor Karen Weissman.
While many residents admit to being shaken by the scary encounter, they also said they refuse to live a life in fear and feel it’s just a matter of time before police get their man.
“Hopefully the authorities will locate this person and bring him to justice,” said Laurie, a concerned neighbor.
Investigators believe the man is in his 40s.
Anyone with information should call Williamson County authorities.
