A Sumner County school bus driver was arrested Friday for allegedly sexually assaulting a student on his school bus.
Authorities said the alleged victim, a 12-year-old girl, rode Jerry Dean’s bus.
Investigators told News 2 Dean, 47, touched the girl inappropriately on the school bus.
He was charged with three counts of aggravated sexual battery and booked into the Sumner County jail.
News 2 spoke with Dean’s wife, who did not want to release her name. She said her husband has been a bus driver with Sumner County Schools for seven years.
“He transported elementary, middle, high school. All three,” she explained. “I can’t believe I was married to a man that would do something like that to a child.”
She said police came to their Portland home and arrested her husband. An investigator searched the property and took a computer, cell phone and tablet.
The investigation into the case is ongoing.
