A Robertson County home is considered a complete loss after a fire destroyed it early Friday morning.
Officials told Smokey Barn News they arrived to the home on Barren Plains Road in Springfield around 5 a.m. after receiving a call regarding the fire.
Firefighters don’t know how long the home was burning before they arrived, but smoke and flames could be seen over the tree line from miles away.
The home’s roof was already 80 to 90% collapsed when they got to the scene.
The fire was so intense that nearby fire departments were called in for assistance. It took nearly 11,000 gallons of water to battle the flames.
One man was inside the home at the time of fire and was able to escape safely.
He reported he was in bed when the smoke alarm went off. He noticed smoke and went outside to the front of the home without sustaining injuries.
The cause has yet to be determined. The home was completely destroyed.
