A man was injured after striking a guardrail and crashing on State Route 840 early Thursday morning.
Officials told News 2 the driver, a man in his 60s, struck a guardrail before continuing nearly 50 yards in eastbound lanes near Carters Creek Pike just before 5 a.m.
The vehicle’s battery was located about 30 yards from where it eventually came to a stop.
The driver suffered injuries to his head and shoulder. An update on his condition was not immediately known.
The front end of the car sustained serious damage and debris from the crash scattered across both eastbound lanes.
Crews had to shut down the outside lane of 840 as they cleared the scene.
