Two people were injured in a head-on collision Wednesday morning after a driver swerved to miss a downed tree lying in the roadway.
It happened just before 8 a.m. on Model Road in Coffee County.
Authorities said Nathan Everhart swerved as he topped the crest of a hill in an effort to avoid striking the tree.
As he swerved to miss the tree, Everhart’s 2006 Ford Fusion struck a 1998 Chevrolet Suburban driven Anita Patterson.
Both Patterson and Everhart were airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville for their injuries.
Their conditions were not immediately released.
A three-year-old child traveling with Patterson was also transported to a local hospital as a precaution.
