One person was killed in a house fire in Murfreesboro Tuesday afternoon.
Upon their arrival to the home located in the 700 block of Minor Street, crews reported smoke and flames coming from the back side of the residence.
One person was found inside the home and was transported to Saint Thomas Rutherford with life-threatening injuries. The victim, whose identity was not immediately released, died a short time later.
Crews were able to contain the fire damage to the home’s bedroom, however much of the structure sustained smoke damage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, though authorities said it appears there were no working smoke detectors inside the house.
The American Red Cross is assisting surviving residents.
