A home caught fire in Maury County early Monday morning due to a lightning strike.
Officials said the fire began in the attic of the home in the 1000 block of Witherspoon Road in Columbia.
Firefighters had to use chainsaws to access the attic in order to fight the flames. Only one room was damaged.
Two people were inside the home when the fire broke out. They were able to escape safely and will receive aid from the Red Cross due the power of their home needing to be shut off.
Fire officials told News 2 they knocked the fire out quickly, keeping it from spreading.
Further details have yet to be released.
