A woman and her alleged pimp were arrested Thursday during an undercover prostitution sting at a hotel near the Nashville airport.

A Metro police officer responded to an ad on the Web site Backpage.com and set up a meeting with Luana McGowan at the Family Inn on Percy Priest Drive.

Once inside the room, McGowan, 26, was arrested after she accepted $140 for a sexual favor, according to an affidavit.

McGowan told police she has been prostituting for many years as a way to make money to eat and supply her narcotics addition.

Her boyfriend, John Newcomb, 37, was arrested after he returned to the hotel room.

He told police he sold $200 worth of food stamps for $100 in order to book the room.

Both he and McGowan were booked into the Metro jail.

McGowan is being held on charges of prostitution with a $2,500 bond.

Newcomb was charged with promoting prostitution with a $50,000 bond.
