An arrest warrant for criminal homicide has been issued
against a north Nashville man accused of beating his uncle to death last week.
Police were initially called to the home of Larry Holmes Jr. and Johnny Odom by Metro Health Department representatives and mental health workers for a separate issue concerning Holmes.
They reported to police Holmes answered the door to his Beals Lane home with blood on his face. Odom was discovered on the floor.
Holmes reportedly attacked responding officers when they arrived to home a short time later.
Holmes, suffers from psychological issues and is currently confined to a mental health institute, police said.
He is expected to be booked on the murder and officer assault charges in the near future.
