A telephone pole fell in Madison early Friday morning after a driver lost control of his car causing him to crash.
Police said the car first struck a mailbox on North Graycroft Avenue just after 3 a.m. before continuing in the pole.
The driver was left uninjured. Authorities are checking him out to see if he was impaired when the accident occurred.
The telephone pole fell into the right of way in the road, bringing wires down with it.
Crews expect the roadway to remain closed for at least six to eight hours Friday.
