For the first time in a decade, the Tennessee Volunteers are opening a football season on a Sunday.

The season opener with Utah State has moved from August 30 to 31 in Knoxville.

Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. and will be televised on the new SEC Network.

Tennessee has opened on a Sunday six times before and is 3-2-1 in those games.

Only one of those games was played at Neyland Stadium, which was the Volunteers 42-17 win over UNLV in 2004.
