A Michigan band leader has been suspended for duct-taping a female student to a chair.
New York Daily News reported Brian Sullivan is on paid administrative leave from his job at Jefferson High School following the incident.
Sullivan said he was trying to get the student to keep her feet flat on the ground while she played her instrument in order to improve her posture.
“You just can't do that kind of stuff to kids anymore,” said Debbie Barron, a band booster. “But I don't think he should lose his job.”
The suspension has put the band's upcoming trip in jeopardy.
They were supposed to leave for Disney World next month.
