The number seven Vanderbilt Commodores took advantage of an early lead to cruise by number nine Kentucky Saturday.
The cold and rainy weather did not hinder the Vanderbilt offense who managed 16 hits in the 9-3 win over the Wildcats.
The Commodores jumped ahead with a three-run first inning that included Dansby Swanson's second home run of the season. Vanderbilt finished with five extra-base hits in the contest.
The Commodores' 16 hits are the most since their season-best 19 hit victory over UIC on February 21.
Five different Vanderbilt players finished with multiple hits, including Swanson who matched a career-best four hits.
Vanderbilt and Kentucky finish the three-game series Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Right-hander Tyler Ferguson will start for Vanderbilt.
