A woman was arrested Wednesday after police say she left a grocery store with merchandise and threw a rock inside, striking an employee.
Stephanie Evans, 32, is charged with theft of property and aggravated assault following the incident at Piggly Wiggly on Dickerson Road Tuesday night.
An employee told police Evans placed a bag of pennies on the counter for just under $20 worth of groceries when she was told the store didn't accept pennies unless they were rolled.
Evans reportedly responded, “Count them yourself,” and left the store.
Employees followed her outside to return her pennies and recover the groceries, which had to be discarded, an affidavit reads.
Police say Evans then threw a rock into the door, which was open, striking an employee in the stomach.
She was booked into the Metro jail on $20,000 bond.
